I located a parking lot that would work as a launch point and hopped in the car. I scoured Strava activities and segments and found a tiny village along Highway 26 called Alder Creek, which would provide the perfect distance with the largest ascent. Therefore, I had to choose a route that would fit the time I had available and also provide a route yielding the largest elevation gain.
